ABOUT US

The story

Bienvenidos and Welcome to Amarilla- Community, Coliving, Coworking.

The heart of Amarilla is an eclectic team that all share the same infatuation for Tenerife and the Canary Islands; who strive to make sure everyone who visits ends up feeling the same way. The Amarilla team is built upon ensuring that guests experience everything the island has to offer, in addition to nurturing the growing digital nomad community on the island by making sure all of the Coliving and Coworking aspects are met.

Amarilla is more than just a Coliving and Coworking solution for Digital Nomads in the South of Tenerife. If you’re looking for a change of scenery and the chance to work and live on an island known for its “eternal spring” year-round climate, then this is the place for you. Amarilla is a Community for like-minded people, where friends are made and experiences are had. And of course, work is done. (That is, when you’re not eating paella or surfing.)

As the Amarilla motto goes: “If you are staying with us, working with us, hanging out with us, or all three- we still want to get to know you.”

Exclusive packages are available for yoga and surf classes, as well as discounted excursion trips- whether it’s whale watching or hiking up Teide, the highest peak in Spain. Plus, there is plenty of chance to mingle with other guests at our social meet-ups and workshops. If there’s anything you’d want to try while on the island that isn’t listed, let us know.

Founders

Marina and Jonathan, a brother and sister duo, grew up in the South of Tenerife. Having parents from different cultures allowed them to experience both the Canarian culture of their father and Irish culture from their mother- along with the array of nationalities and communities spread throughout the Canary Islands.

After graduating from High School, they both, at separate times, left the island to study and work abroad. Between them, they have lived in: Spain, Ireland, Germany, Ethiopia, Hong Kong, Jordan, France, the USA, and Bali. However, the two found themselves being drawn back to the place that they grew up in. Marina and Jonathan would invite friends to visit their home with them and when showing off the island, felt an immense sense of pride and adoration for the place.

Tenerife is an island that boasts as much culture and history as it does experiences and activities. For such a small place in a seemingly random part of the world, it has something for everyone.

Soon, the two would relocate to Tenerife, after spending years traveling the world they would both agree that the island is incomparable to anywhere else they had lived. There really is no place like home.

Coworking team

The necessity to work in a comfortable, quiet, and positive environment is extensively upheld by Alberto.

Thanks to him, we know all of our guests are in a safe space, with whatever it is they need to focus on working.

Alberto looks after the Coworking office and will make sure all your working needs are always met.

Surf team

Stalin and Inga are professionals that have surfed all over the world; they’ve even organized surf trips throughout South America. Whether you’re a hesitant beginner or an advanced surfer wanting to try the waters of Tenerife, Stalin and Inga have a range of classes based on experience.

Top tip: Evening classes include an additional sunset-watching hour on the beach – beers are optional!

Yoga team

Vita’s yoga studio isn’t inside a stuffy air-conditioned room filled with mirrors. Instead, it’s the beach.

Having spent ten years in India learning everything there is to know about yoga, Vita teaches various styles of the practice, it’s up to you which one to try. However, we cannot recommend enough experiencing starting the day with a yoga session by the sea.

Excursion team

Toño is our in-house Excursion Master, also known as the ‘Canarian Walking Wikipedia’.

There isn’t anything Toño doesn’t know about the history and culture of the Canary Islands. Seriously, we encourage you to test him and find out yourselves on one of his excursions.

(He also makes the best Spanish tortilla and sangria you’ll ever have.)

The Cleaning Team is part of the Community and interacts with guests regularly to make sure everything is to their standard of cleanliness.

The Coworking and Coliving spaces are cleaned thoroughly, for guests to focus solely on their work and, most importantly, enjoy themselves. There isn’t a day that you won’t be greeted by Angela & Phil´s welcoming smile.

Retreats

The Retreat Team has been organising everything from company getaways, creative workshops to specialised summits, long before Amarilla was around.

Whatever stage your retreat planning is at, the team is here to help you along the way with the support you need by combining worldwide and local knowledge. We have experience organising from beginning to end or from any stage of the process you need support from to make your retreat unique and unforgettable.
